Schools/ Places around the world!

We want to learn about as many schools as we can over the next few weeks. Please help us out and tell us about the school you attend. Please tell us things like: What is the name of your school and your mascot? Where are you located? How many students are in your school? What "special" classes do you have (gym, art, music, etc.)? What grade levels are in your school? Is your principal a man or a woman? Do you wear a uniform? What is the best thing about your school?

If you are not a student, please tell us about where you live (city, state). Let us know what is special about your state and what the weather is like.

Bolton Bears want to know!!! Please tell us about your school or where you live!

Spike, our class pet

I came in on Monday morning and guess what I found? An empty hamster cage! I was very upset that our class pet Spike was gone! Was he still in our classroom? Did he run out into the halls? Did he hide in the principal's desk? Was he hiding in the library? Would we ever find him.....

Happy Columbus Day

Monday was Columbus Day. We read a story about Columbus, researched him on the internet, watched a short movie and read a play about his voyage. Another way we celebrated this day was by creating our own ships. Each student was given a milk carton and paper. We let the students create their boats on their own. The teamwork that this class showed was amazing! Students worked together to assemble their ships. They turned out fantastic and the students are so proud of their work.

Apples

We tasted 3 kinds of apples. They each tasted so different! We tried a Golden Delicious, a Gala and a Granny Smith. Everyone had their own thoughts about the apples. Listen to what each child thought about their favorite apple!

EXCELLENT WORK!!!

I am so proud of my second graders, each and every one of them!!! It was our turn to create a bulletin board for the hallway. We spent a week reading about and researching spiders. Everyone chose how they were going to "publish" their work. I have never been so proud! All students worked hard and were excited about the work they did. Students wrote stories, made a book, brochure, picture, etc. They were given freedom to choose how they wanted to show their work. Their excitement was worth the time it took to complete the projects. GREAT JOB, KIDS!!!!

The last day...

Today is the last day of first grade. You have learned so much this year. You have learned how tell time, add two digit numbers, and about place value. You learned how to write stories, paragraphs, and how to edit your writing. You leaned how to read, use strategies that will help you understand your reading better, and why authors write stories. Mrs. Milburn and I are so proud of the hard work that each of you has done this year. We hope everyone has fun this summer. We will miss all of you! Keep working hard and READ, READ, READ!!!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

During the week of Earth Day, we saved our milk cartons so we could "recycle" them as flower pots. We decorated them and planted a flower in them for our moms. We had lots of fun doing this project! We hope our moms enjoy their gift.
